Active dads = Active kids

Getting your kids to exercise and have a fitness routine is one of the things that parents have to worry about. There’s no question the role that a father plays in the household and in their children’s lives. Strength, leadership, discipline, and balance are some of the qualities instilled into the kids with Dad around. Equally important is how Dad’s impact their offspring to lead active lifestyles from a young age.

In fact, there is a correlation between fatherless homes and children having obesity and other illnesses later in life. So it is clear how important Father’s are to their kids future well-being. Below AmazFit breaks down 5 ways Daddies can influence their young ones to be active:

Talk about fitness - Speak to your children about how important it is to be fit and healthy. In addition to the benefits, let them know how you stay active. Having the conversation from youth will set the tone for the future.

Lead by example - When your kids see you working out daily, they will follow suit. You can talk the talk, but you need to walk the walk too. Show them how staying fit keeps you healthy and get them to join you by making it fun.

Make it fun - Whether its cycling together or playing ball outside, make sure you do some outdoor activities together. Showing them the importance of getting outdoors and getting some movement is a great way to not only spend time together but also encourage them to take part in physical activities.

Let them choose a sport - Providing your kids with the means to become a part of their school sports team is a sure way to influence them to participate in fitness for the rest of their lives. They get social interaction with their peers and you are also their support system and offer encouragement during losses and low moments.

Make it a family event - Take the whole family on a hike or to surf, participate in a race or simply go swimming on a Saturday. The positive correlation of family time with the activity will help that kid truly want to continue this lifestyle.

From what they say to what they do, dads have a great impact on how their kids behave and lead their lives. So, all you amazing dads, get out there and show your kids how to lead an active, healthy life. Go play with them, make them run and laugh and celebrate this Father's Day outdoors!
