Get Your Fitness On: How to Start or How to Keep Going

With the summer wrapping up and vacations coming to an end, it's time to get back to the grind. The sense of getting back in shape is also slowly creeping up. So what's stopping you from sweating it out?

As a beginner, you may be wondering where to start or maybe as a gym vet, you've hit a plateau and don't know how to move forward? Whether you are a seasoned exerciser or a newbie looking to start out, the below guide should help.

Beginners: Starting a Fitness Program

Baby steps

Don’t try to do a lot. Rome was not built in a day, so know that your fitness journey will take time. Be patient and take it one day at a time.

Take help

At the beginning, you'll not know what to do or how to start, So it is a good idea to seek out a qualified trainer to train you.

Get fit with a loved one

You will more likely to stick to a program if you have family or friends workout with you. Go for a walk, a Zumba class or the gym with your partner to keep you motivated.

Use fitness trackers

Download a workout app on your phone or get a fitness tracker/sports watch of your choice to keep an eye on how many calories you burn and your heart rate.

Workout Vets: Getting over a Plateau

Switch up frequency, intensity, time or type of exercise. This way your body will not get used to one workout.

Try a new workout

Get outside your comfort zone, do something different with your fitness. Switch things up to burn more calories.

What you eat is a big part of your fitness journey. The right food will help you overcome the plateau.

Rest when you can

Planning your recovery days and getting rest is important. Overtraining could be tiring your body without you realizing.

Regardless if you are a new potential exerciser or a past gym-rat, an absence of fitness can occur. Either way, the goal is to get into a workout regimen that will align with your specific goals and have longevity. Don’t let doubt or a lack of motivation get you stuck in a lifestyle without movement. Get back to or get on a fit journey today!
