Take the Pedal to the Trail: #BikeToWork!

Most of us have a bike and love riding it but still consider biking a weekend activity. We don’t consider it as a way to commute. We know the benefits of biking are endless.

It’s cost-efficient, healthy, and fun, so why not take the bike out on a weekday too? And that means biking to work! National May is the Bike to Work month so Amazfit encourages you to pedal to your job. Here’s why -

Daily Activity - It’s the best way to get your daily dose of fitness activity that too at the start of your day.

Environment - Biking to work is better for the ozone layer because there are no harmful emissions!

Avoid the traffic - Pedaling to work means skipping the traffic and the honking. Just ride along on the bike path and trails.

Health - Cycling is a form of aerobic exercise, and this has major benefits in terms of cardiovascular health.

Save Money - Ditching the car and biking to work means no expenditure on gas, parking, etc.!

Happiness - Exercise, especially cardio, boost serotonin and other feel-good hormones in the body to make you feel relaxed and happy!

Sold on all the benefits of biking to work but haven’t biked in a long time? Don’t worry, we have a checklist for you to help you plan and prepare yourself for your ride -

Track your route - Use apps on your phone or a map to plan out which path to take beforehand. If you have time, take a test ride to your job the weekend or day before you plan to bike there.

Keep the bag light - Carry only the most important things like your cell phone, lunch, any paperwork, wallet, keys Preferably, a book bag would be good since you can place it on your back and not burden your shoulders.

Take water and easy to eat snacks - It’s important to stay hydrated no matter how far your commute is. Make sure to carry a water bottle. You can also carry some snacks that contain glucose if your ride is longer.

Dress lightly - You want to be as comfortable and mobile as possible while riding your bike to work so wear comfortable clothes. If your work attire is formal suits or dresses, carry them with you and bike wearing cycling appropriate clothes and shoes.

Stay safe - Always wear a helmet when riding the bike. Also, make sure your helmet is the correct size i.e. it is neither too loose nor too tight. Safety comes first.

Bike to Work Day is an amazing way to improve your health and save money too! It’s better for the environment and definitely a better alternative to sitting in your car in traffic every day. Skip the road congestion and stress, hit the road on your bikes!
