Strong Mamas: Why Moms Should Be Fit

Moms take care of everyone and put everything before themselves. Sacrifice seems to their second nature. That’s what moms do, right? Right? But as they say, a fit mom means a fit family.

Moms need time for themselves. They need to make sure they are healthy. Kids will follow your example, not your advice. Here are 6 reasons why you need to be a fit mom -

Strength: You will need to pick up your kids, carry their baby bags or push their strollers. You need the endurance to juggle many things at once. Exercise to be ready for all the demanding tasks that come your way.

Health: Studies have shown that exercise reduces the risk of diseases and makes one live longer. That stands true for you too, momma! Fall sick less and spend more time having fun with the kids.

Increased energy: Exercising produces endorphins which when released produce feelings of pain relief and well-being. Don’t all moms need more energy?

Stress relief: The last thing moms want is stress but they are probably the most stressed people. Working out is a huge stress reliever. It clears your mind, alleviate bottled up tension and helps your mind relax.

Setting a good example: Kids emulate most things their parents. If the kids see you working out, they will get into the habit early on. Include them in your fitness routine to build their habit.

A family activity: Including the whole family into your workout routine is not only a fun way to workout, but it also ensures quality time being spent together. The family that works out together, stays together!

Tips to Stay Fit Even as a Busy Mom:

Time management: Plan your day and keep at least 30 mins for working out. Stick to a schedule.

Involve your kids: Look for a kids-friendly gym or workout at home. Get your kids involved to develop the habit in them.

Workout anywhere: Be open up to the idea of exercising outside of a gym. Run with the stroller or workout in the park.

Support System: Ask your partner, parents or a friend to watch the kids while you hit the gym or attend a fitness class.

Join a fit moms group: Meet up with other moms to start your fitness journey together and stay motivated.

If you are a mother, do not feel guilty about wanting to take care of yourself. It is not selfish to be a fit mom and taking care of yourself actually makes you a better mother. Having kids doesn’t end your world and it shouldn’t stop what you have going on. Take it as an example you have to set for your children.

Fit Moms are the future of fitness!
