The original strap is super comfortable, and still hanging in there in good condition. The sale motivated me to buy one in case the stock strap has to be replaced for some reason - even though it shows minimal signs of wear. "Spare tire" mentality.
The new strap is exactly like the original, and includes a tool use to change the strap. The sale price was a great deal, too. It's exactly what I wanted for my faithful TR2.
